Practical rules
- A 5-second skip on an 8-second commercial leaves little viewing time, so consider whether it suits your sponsorship model.
- Some players or connected-TV platforms do not support the VAST skip function. Roku RAF documentation, for example, lists VAST 3.0 skippable linear ads as unsupported.
- A
skiptracking URL can be present without guaranteeing the player fires it. - The destination URL belongs in a VAST ClickThrough, not as the media source.

Use properly authorized, HTTPS destinations. Keep applicable tracking parameters where required by your affiliate program. Test navigation in a real player and check whether the platform restricts opening browser windows.
What tracking means
A click count means the player sent the click-tracking request. It doesn't necessarily equal a completed landing-page visit or a validated affiliate conversion.
