Step by step
- Check that your tag returns a valid ad in the VAST Testing Lab.
- Play the ad in a real VAST-compatible player.
- Check whether the video actually starts and whether the player fires impression tracking.
- Temporarily disable ad blockers in a test environment if appropriate.
- Confirm you are not using signed testing mode, which can intentionally exclude test events.
Tips and common mistakes
- Opening a VAST tag directly in a browser is not an impression.
- Different players fire their impression callback at different points in the ad lifecycle.
