404, 500 and rejected VAST tags

Distinguish a missing tag from a server-side error and from an ordinary authentication response.

What you need to know

Distinguish a missing tag from a server-side error and from an ordinary authentication response.

Step by step

  1. Confirm the full VAST URL was copied, including its public identifier.
  2. Check that the commercial or saved tag still exists and is active.
  3. Try a simple commercial tag to isolate a saved-tag or pod-specific issue.
  4. If an HTTP 500 occurs, inspect the server PHP error log or contact support with the time and URL.
  5. For API requests, include a valid Bearer token; a missing-token JSON error is not a VAST error.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Do not paste private API keys into the VAST tag URL.
  • If an issue began after an upload, restore only the affected file from a backed-up version.
